Why the Gap Matters in Practice
The Extension Question: Not Every Device Runs One
Brisk's core tools live in a browser extension. That rules out phones and tablets.
Brisk's feedback and creation tools come as an extension for Chrome or Edge that works inside Google Docs, Google Classroom and other sites, and a web app at app.briskteaching.com handles some tools, like Brisk Boost and batch feedback. That's a useful workflow on a school laptop. But Brisk says its extensions aren't supported on mobile devices, so a teacher on a phone or an iPad gets only the web tools. TeachFlow is a standalone web app that works in any modern browser on any device, with no extension to install and nothing to update. For district IT teams managing hundreds of devices, that simplicity matters.
Inside Other Tools vs. A Home of Its Own
Brisk works inside the tools you already use. TeachFlow is your AI platform — regardless of which LMS you use.
Brisk works where student work already lives: Google Docs, and Google assignments in Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology and Blackboard. That's a strength if all your work happens there. TeachFlow is LMS-agnostic: your tools, history, and settings follow you regardless of which platform your school uses. Teachers also use TeachFlow for work that happens outside any LMS — planning, communication, professional development materials, parent updates, and student submissions.
AI Grading, Lesson Planning & Student Integration
These aren't add-ons — they're core to what makes TeachFlow a complete platform.
TeachFlow includes a full standards-aligned lesson planning suite where teachers build complete lesson plans mapped to Common Core, NGSS, or state standards. The AI grading engine handles essay feedback automatically against rubrics you define. And both students and parents have their own accounts — students submit work directly through TeachFlow, parents see released grades and message the teacher. Brisk writes rubric-aligned feedback into students' Google Docs and runs student activities through Brisk Boost, but it has no parent accounts.
A Platform vs. A Plugin
Plugins enhance existing workflows. Platforms create new capabilities entirely.
Brisk adds AI on top of the tools you already use. That's valuable for schools that live in Google Docs and an LMS. But TeachFlow is a platform — it has its own teacher dashboard, history, district admin tools, analytics, and 61-tool library. Teachers get a dedicated space for AI-assisted work, not mostly a sidebar inside another tool. When you need to generate a presentation, build a rubric, plan a standards-aligned lesson, send parent updates, and track student submissions all in one sitting, you need a platform, not a plugin.
Brisk is great if you live in Google Classroom but we needed something that works everywhere. TeachFlow is our district-wide solution now — it doesn't matter what browser or device teachers are on.
